Hi, welcome to the Daily Spin. I'm Steve, the owner of inlineskates.com. This is Mike Powell. Mike is the K2 Skate guru direct from K2 Skate headquarters, right? Yes, sir. And this is the K2 F.I.T. 84 Boa. I am super-geeked about this skate. I think this is the best skate for the money in the K2 Skate line for a lot of reasons: Aluminum frame, good wheel, good bearing but most importantly the K2 Boa system which I think you should show the audience how that works. I'd love to explain. I'm really happy you said super-geeked because I have not heard that yet today. So, I'm going to show you this Boa closure system here. As you can see, I'm just going to put my fingers on it and pop it open. It's that simple. And then I'm going to actually pull this and that's how you get into the skate.

The Boa system is very easy to get in and out of and, when you're getting into it, you saw me pop it open, to close it, I just push the button here and I'm twisting and what this does, it engages from the bottom of the skate... It's actually rolling the lace inside that little roller thing. Yeah. So, it's pulling the nylon laces up through the cable and you get a better fit than we ever had on a K2 skate thanks to this Boa closure system and the other closure properties that we have. And it gives a universal rather than just being tight up at the top like a typical lace would be, it universally tightens. Yeah, it's even throughout the foot. Right. It gives the best fit possible. Now there's two other little helpful things to get a good fit on here as well. So, we have this Powerstrap here and this is going to lock your heel into that heel pocket there and not allow for lift which is key. And then you've got this ratcheting buckle and what that does is it engages this cuff and it's going to give you the maximum amount of support that you need on this fitness skate here. So, that's going to be a great comfortable fit but also real good performance fit because it's going to give you that tight, no-nonsense, no movement, no blisters, direct performance from your knee directly to the wheels.

Exactly. I mean the fit is comfortable like you say but, I mean, it's the highest performance fitness fit that we have in the K2 line. Now we've got great performance features for speed and agility at the bottom. You've got aluminum frame. So, what's the benefit of an aluminum frame? Well, it transfers power. That's really the benefit. It's better than a composite frame. It's more rigid and it's going to put that power from your foot right into the road. You're going to get higher speeds. It's also going to be more stable at speed. And what are the wheels and bearings setup we have in this? So, we've got an 84mm wheel on this skate and then bearing-wise, we've got this ILQ7 bearing and what this does, is it's a bearing that's engineered specifically for inline skates. Twin Cam engineered it for us back in 2002,it's the only bearing of it's kind and it features 6 balls that are bigger than your ABEC balls so feel that bigger balls equal better speed and it just makes for a better skate all-around. I couldn't have said it better. All right. So, you've got a bigger wheel, a better bearing, the ILQ7 is a 3-5-7 and 9 so that's the second from the top of the bearing scale, aluminum frame, Boa system, this is a real performance-oriented skate that people are going to really, I think, like skating more, they're going to go faster, create more of a fluid, ice skating feel of getting that nice, smooth, fluid ride, wouldn't you say?

Yeah. So, who's the ideal customer for this skate? You know, your serious fitness skater. Someone who has given up on running or biking and they want to use skating as their primary fitness tool. They can't run and bike too? They could but it would better, more fun on their knees if they get stuck to their skates. That's kind of thing is that...the thing I like about inline skating is it's like the perfect sport. Low-impact, wind at your face so you can keep going. It's fun. You can do it socially. You know, it's like the perfect skate for getting into ...perfect sport for getting into cross-training, getting into fit, staying in shape for skiing and snowboarding. It's a full body workout. But I'm biased because I love skating. But anyways, anything else you want to talk about? No, I think we're going to talk about some other skates soon. The producer's about to cut us off because we're going long. We always do. Yeah...see, we just got cut off so I can't tell you anymore. So, there it is, the K2 F.I.T. 84 Boa. Boa, that's the key. Boa this, Boa that. Boa. Boa. Thanks for joining us on the Daily Spin.
