Hi, welcome to the Daily Spin. I'm Steve, the owner of inlineskates.com, and this is Mike. Mike Powell from K2 Skates and we're going to talk about the K2 Skate Hero X Boa. Yes, we are. That's a long name. Yeah and you nailed it. Okay, good. All right then let's keep going. So, there's lots of cool things to talk about on this. The Boa is the most exciting but we're going to get to that last. Okay. Before we get to that, let's talk about some of the other things starting with the adjustability feature on this skate which is on all K2 kid's skates. Yep. We found that kids grow out of skates pretty quick. That's because moms feed them and their feet grow. Yeah, and it happens really fast. Yeah it does. So, what we decided to do was create a, you know, five full sizes of adjustability on one of these skates so we can get kids in skates for more than one season so you've got a push button here. You can actually just push it, shut this skate down just like that... The front slides back and forth. Yeah. For five full sizes so it's really a huge benefit to parents who don't want to have to buy a new skate every season.
Now the models we've looked at before had laces and Velcro and ratchet buckles and those are all gone now. They are gone. And we have this thing called a Boa which seems to replace all that. Yep. And personally I think Boa is like the greatest invention since sliced bread so tell us about the Boa. Yeah, Boa is an amazing invention. It's, if you look at it, it's performance, it's convenience, it's everything locked into one so instead of having to lace up your kid's skates or even use the Speedlace, Boa, you know, it gets your kid in and out of a skate in about 35-40 seconds. Show us how it works. So, pretty much you got this dial here, you click it shut and you twist. A 2 year old can do this and I've seen 2 year olds do this. Kids can put their own skates and they can tighten them on the fly too, can't they? Yeah, while they're rolling you can actually just lean down and tighten this thing up a bit so you can get more of a precise fit while you're out on the trail. So, let me just kind of show the audience at home. It's actually a...is it a cable or a nylon? It's a nylon system there. So, it goes through so when you spin this everything tightens evenly unlike laces where often it only tightens at the top. Yeah. And it all tightens real...so it gives a really smooth, tight fit and the Boa's been used on lots of other products. Snowboard boots, ice skates, tennis shoes. All kinds of other stuff, right?
Helmets. Helmets, yeah. So, it's a very well-proven technology. Yeah, I mean it's used across all sports and it's the benchmark for every category that it's in. And fit's really the key to great performance and this skate's going to give the best fit than any kid's skate. Exactly. And does anybody else have this Boa feature? Not on an inline skate. Yeah, you guys are the only one. So, let's get to the wheels and bearings on this skate. Can you tell us about what kind of wheels and bearings we got on the bottom? Well, I'm going to tell you about the wheels and bearings and the configuration. So, it's an ABEC 3 bearing which is a perfect bearing for this skate and then your configuration of wheels; it's a Hi-Lo system so you're 72mm in the front, 76mm in the back. Pretty much what that does, it creates a low center of gravity with the biggest wheels so we can put on this skate because this is our highest end kid's skate so you get speed, maneuverability and you also get a low center of gravity which makes it easy to learn how to skate and easy to just maintain your balance. Okay. So, who is the ideal customer, Mike, for this skate? It's across the board, I mean, it could be a brand new skater whose parents want to get him into just the best kid's skate or it could be someone who's had, you know, started with the Raider and decided to upgrade to a better skate in the K2 line and this is it. You know, it's got the convenience and performance features of Boa. It's got that Hi-Lo and, you know, it's got that Softboot fit which is pretty amazing. So, anywhere from beginner all the way up, it's really going to be the best performance on a kid's skate from K2. Yeah, it's the best performance kid's skate on the market. You can't find anything better. Okay, well there you have it. That's the K2, let me see if I can get all this, the K2 Skate Hero X Boa for boys. Yes. You got it. For boys. Okay. I like the colors on it too. So, that's it. Thanks for watching us on the Daily Spin. Have a great day.
