Hi, welcome to the Daily Spin. I'm Steve, the owner of inlineskates.com, and joining us today is Mike. Mike is the skate guru from Seattle's K2 Headquarters, right, Mike? Yes. And in front of me we've got a really nice high-performance K2 women's skate called the VO2 90 Pro for women, correct? Yes. And this skate's a good looking skate but it is loaded with features. So, let's start with the boot. So, you've got the K2 Softboot technology here. You've got some really cool lacing systems and some real cool ventilation. Can you talk to us about those? I will. So, it starts out... Please do. Yeah, thanks. So, it starts out with our Powerstrap. You need something that's going to lock that heel into that heel pocket. This is going to do it right there. You combine that with this ratcheting buckle here that engages the cuff and gives you the support that you need and you tie that all together with something that needs no tying, which is our Speedlace System from K2. Pretty much this system here, you take this handle pull, get your foot in the skate, give it one tug and it locks down here so all the laces are going to engage, you're going to get a nice, snug fit and it's going to lock here. If you find your skate loosening up on the trail or you just want to get it a little bit tighter, you can do it on the fly as well. You can just grab the handle give it a pull and put it right back in the pocket so closure-wise we found this is one of the best ways to close up a Softboot and give you a performance fit and then you'd mention the Vortech Ventilation System which we're really excited about. And this system is something where we created a series of vents and channels that run through the skate, to move moisture from your sock, out to the back of the skate so you can see in the camera here, we've got some entrance ports here for air to come through and exhaust through the back and let the air escape.

Channels underneath take that moisture, pull it through and keeps the skate a little bit lighter because you do generate a lot of sweat when you're skating so it... Along with some vents on the side as well. Yeah, these big windows here so it's as breathable as it gets. Yeah, so because you know, if you're going to be a serious skater and be out there for a while, your feet are going to sweat. Yeah. For sure. And you don't want to lose that fit. You don't want to have your foot sliding around or anything like that so it keeps it nice and cool and comfortable. Exactly. So, that's the kind of creature comfort that keeps you nice and tight but there's some other features on here that really give you performance. Smooth ride, fast, stable, that's all kind of below the boot. Yeah. You know, it starts here with the frame. It's a long frame that's meant to be really stable at speed and people buying this skate are going to be out on the trail for a couple hours at a time and they're going to be skating fast and they want to not have to think about their skates and be as stable as possible - this frame creates that; a nice good aluminum frame. Below that you got your 90mm wheels that are going to roll over just about anything and they're going to absorb a lot of road vibration and on top of that you've got the ILQ 9 bearing which is the only bearing ever engineered for inline skating and it's proven to be the best performance.

So, you got a high-end bearing, a much larger wheel; now what's the benefit of the larger wheel? Well, it's going to roll over cracks and bumps much more easily and just having a little bit bigger wheel gives you a little bit bigger roll so you're going to go a little faster. So, between the tight fit on the boot for all the closure system, the anatomical fit, the aluminum frame, the wheel and the bearing, you're going to get a real power transfer directly to your feet. I know for some women they want to go but some women don't really want to go fast but that doesn't mean that that's necessarily not the skate for them, right? Right, no, we create this for the people, if you do want to go fast, it's going to be super-stable at speed, if you don't, it's just going to be fun. Right, because it gives you that fluid like, I like to compare to ice skating where it gives you that fluid movement, you're not huffing and puffing to get up hills. It gives you that nice good glide so if you choose to you can just use it as a real fun way to enjoy skating because it's got that smooth, kind of, you know, real...what am I trying to say here, help me. But wait, there's more. What? We didn't mention this pink ribbon here. Thanks for saving me. It's very important. It's something that we've done at K2 since 2000 supporting the BCRF or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. A percentage of all sales go to that and we've given over 2 million dollars since 2000. That's great. So, the right ideal perfect customer for this skate or the kind of person that would take a lot of benefit out of this skate. It's the serious skate athlete, someone who's been through, you know, our fitness line and they've realized that skating is for them and that's what they're going to make their workout. They're going to skate almost every day and they're going to use their K2 skates to do that so that's who this skate is for. Okay. Great. Thank you, Mike. Thank you. I appreciate all the information and there you go, there's the K2 VO2 90 Pro for women. This has been the Daily Spin. Thanks for joining us.
