These are very nice skates. The boa closure system is really convenient as I always need to tighten-up after warming up. However, I have short, muscular calves. The top of the boot tends to cut into my calf muscle a little on the loosest strap setting.
I was a little hesitant at first to purchase these skates because they were a bit more than I had intended on spending and because of the Boa closure system. Although the boa closure system seemed really cool I had concerns about what I would do if it broke. The latter concern is still in the back of my mind, but I love these skates. They fit well and are very comfortable. The closure system has turned out to be really great because of the micro-adjusting ability. I would definitely recommend these skates to anyone who skates recreationally on a regular basis.
I thought the newadvanced closure system would be great but it really isn't worth the extra money. I have an older version with a pull-closure system and that seemed to really get my foot snug. The dial is helpful though when your foot expands during the workout and you need to adjust quickly. However, you could have done the same thing with the other version.
Other than that, the skate is quality. I should have gotten a smaller size so I have to wear thicker socks or find an insert in order for it to fit better
I love these skates! The boa thing works great, although it took me a bit to figure out how to loosen it - didn't seem to be in any of the directions. You pull the knob out to loosen it, then push it back in to turn and tighten.
My new snowboard boots have the Boa lacing system, so I KNEW that I HAD to have that on my new blades. Lacing was getting to be such a chore, trying to get them tight enough, and sometimes ripping skin off my hands. I've tried the buckle closure skates, but they just weren't tight enough in the right places. This new Boa lacing system is fast, and tightens equally in all areas. Also, the larger wheel size (84) means a faster ride - sweeeet!! You can't get this size wheel in any store around town - I tried 4 different stores, and they only had the standard size (78) for women.
I have been rollerblading for 15 years with a group. We travel 12 miles each time and these blades are the MOST comfortable ride ever. I have owned other K2's, Rollerblades, and Blade Runners in the past. The BOA is the key to the K2's I own. It is a fun and enjoyable workout.
A: When sizing for inline skates, you will want to purchase them as close as possible to your athletic shoe size. If you are inbetween sizes, you can always size up to the larger size and purchase a footbed to help close any gaps
