These are my teenage daughters first set of skates... they have a great price-point and fit her desire to stay active. Although we did not notice upon opening the box, the first time she had them on one wheel fell off resulting in having to buy a set of axles... So check them! This one axle, we assume was present, was not tightened down well enough adding to the price of the skates overall.
This product is great. I had to buy one half size up just because they didn't have my size in stock. If anyone has to do that due to impatience then, it's okay because these skates are awesome enough that if you throw a pair of socks in there, you're as good as gold. I haven't used the skates outside yet (I'm a newbie). But, skating around the house has been pretty badass. If you're looking for cute, high quality women's skates to buy then, look no further. #teamAthenaK2
I like the quality of these skates. I do, however, wish I had found a store to try a pair on. There are certain aspects that are not to my personal taste but may be for others. The size does run very small - I am typically a woman's 9; I ordered a 9.5 and it is too small. I prefer straps over laces because laces are not as easy for me to use for a tight fit. These particular skates angle forward on the leg more than I'm used to but it's pretty easy to adapt to it. The soul feels a little thin but it doesn't bother me at all. I can wear thin ankle socks with these and not have any sores or pain, which I'm so grateful for. The leg of the skate comes up to the perfect height (not too high) and the leg diameter is great (not too small). The wheels are great - smooth and quiet. I have been skating with these several times a week since I purchased them. I feel like the cons are only my personal preference and not a result of poor production. This was a great deal for me and I am happy overall. I am ONLY rating 4.5 stars because of the size discrepancy.
I bought these skates to rollerblade outside in the park and they are great! I love how they feel on my feet. I might have order a half size too big but I just wear 2 pairs of sock and they feel just right!
I was reluctant to purchase another pair of blades as I am getting up there in age. I am so happy I chose this skate. I can move fast, get a good workout and yet feel very stable on them. The company and staff were outstanding to work with. I have only positive comments. Sincerely, Rosanne Smith, Arcadia Fl.

Q: I wear size 6 shoes. What size of rollerblades should I get? I recently ordered a pair of rollerblades (not this brand) in size 6 and it was way too big. I am concerned because other reviewers are saying that this pair fits true to size.

A: Yes, the brake is removable. In the box you will find a replacement axle which is shorter than axle used with the braking system. You will want to remove the axle for the last wheel which holds the brake on, remove the brake system, and replace the axle with the shorter axle without the braking system. You will find full instructions in the box to do so. Any questions, don't hesitate to contact our customer care team @ 800-754-7266

A: The K2 Athena womens skates will only be able to hold a maximum wheel size of 80mm. I would recommend taking a look at the Alexis Boa's instead, as they will come with with 84mm wheel initially and can be upgraded to a 90mm wheel if you want to upgrade.

Q: I have a pretty narrow/long foot, and am looking for an in-line skate for recreational/fitness use. Would the athena be a good option?
A: The K2 Athena skates will make a solid entry level skate for the recreational skater. At only 80mm in the wheels however they may not make the most ideal fitness skate. You should look towards the Alexis or another model with a slightly larger wheel/maximum wheel size for a good combination recreational/fitness model.
