Metrodome Inline Skating Marathon
I am sure everyone is aware of your traditional marathons, like the Boston Marathon and New York Marathon. Now those are for people running and have a division for walkers. Well for the inline skating enthusiast there are also Inline skating marathons. One of the biggest in the United States is the Metrodome Inline Marathon.
The Metrodome Inline Marathon is the world’s only indoor marathon. On March 17, 2012 the 7th Annual Metrodome Inline Marathon takes place at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minnesota. This marathon is a friendly environment accepting marathon skaters of all skill levels ranging from beginner all the way up to professional. A lot of skaters use this as a warm-up to get in shape for the marathon season, while others use this wonderful event to push themselves to levels they have never reached before.
There are three different categories for the marathon. They include full marathon, half marathon and a team competition. To avoid congestion on the concourse organizers of the event send skaters out in different waves and sent out onto the course individually. The average full marathon time for Men based on the 2011 race is 1 hour 42 minutes and 29 seconds and for Women 2 hours 2 minutes and 45 seconds.
The Metrodome Inline Marathon is the first event in the National Rollercup (NROC) Series. Registration for the 2012 race is now underway.
