Initially I was concerned that the boot would be too stiff and narrow. I have a medium width foot. These skates are more comfortable than the skates I've been using for 5 years! Also love the convenience of the Xboa lacing system. Finally, ...Read More

Q: Are there any stiffer boots that will fit the 195mm frame of the K2 Radical X Boa skates? The boot on the Radical X Boa skates is much too soft to support me (e.g., "big-boned" Hah!). I love the skates, but I can't get the Boa closure tight enough on the bottom half of the boot to provide stiff support without cutting off circulation to my feet. Is there any way to get the Radical X Boa to be more supportive? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A:I totally understand the issue you are having. I currently skate on the Maxxum 90's with a full plastic boot which gives my larger self great support. For you if you're looking to keep with the 195mm spacing and it looks like you're looking for speed, I'd suggest the K2 Mod 125 (3 wheel skate but can be swapped to 4 wheel), and the Rollerblade Tempest 110 C. Both skates have a carbon cuff and offer extreme performance, but they both also offer a mid ratchet strap to tighten the mid-center section of the skates. This is what the Radical X is lacking and could make the big difference for you. I'd put those 2 as my top recommendations.

Q: Is this specific skate available for women? If not how does the sizing differ between men and women's skates? Would a 6.5 be ok if I usually wear a 7.5?
Asked : Oct 27, 2016
By : Janelle, United States
Know the answer? Answer this question

A:No, this skate is not available in a women's model, and is sized in men's sizing. To size correctly for women's sizing you will want to drop a full size from the size listed.

Q: Does the longer frame still allow maneuverability for changing direction, going backwards, etc?
Asked : Sep 12, 2016
By : ninjason, laurel md
Know the answer? Answer this question

A:Yes, but you will want to get used to the skates in a controlled environment. Depending on the skates you are coming from the time it will take to get used to can vary from the first time out to a handful of sessions. These skates are geared towards longer distance and speed skating so they are not going to corner and maneuver as well as recreational and urban style skates but all those actions are definitely possible with these skates.

Q: Will the mount system that attaches to the boot come off when skating and is this skate narrow like the other speed skates ? I have a thick foot so narrow won't work .

Know the answer? Answer this question

A:I would really hope the frame doesn't come off while skating, and this is not something that has been reported as happening. It is still a good idea to check your skates before each skate to ensure all bolts are tight. K2 skates don't come in wide widths and are fairly standard width. These do offer a softer boot than most speed skates so the fit will be a bit more forgiving than the stiff carbon race boots.

A:Yes, the K2 Radical X Boa skates feature a 195mm frame mounting set up and the frame and boot can be detached.

Asked : Mar 29, 2015

A:Yes, the brake is easily removed. Inside the skate box, you will receive a shorter axle screw to accommodate the wheel once the brake is removed.
